Terms of Service
Plain-language terms for using Med Caddy, the AI med school assistant.
1. What Med Caddy is (and isn't)
Med Caddy is an AI-powered academic assistant for Brown Medical School students. It answers questions about schedules, deadlines, policies, contacts, and resources by searching your own synced data and a curated knowledge base, and cites its sources.
Important: Med Caddy is an informational aid, not an authoritative source. Answers can be incomplete or wrong. Every answer includes citation links — verify time-sensitive or high-stakes information (deadlines, requirements, policies) against the cited source or the responsible office before acting on it. Med Caddy does not provide medical, legal, or mental-health advice.
2. Who may use it
- Use is limited to brown.edu account holders (and individually approved accounts) participating in the pilot.
- Participation is strictly opt-in — you choose to connect your Google account, and you can disconnect at any time.
3. Your account and data
- You authorize Med Caddy to access your Google data with read-only mail and file scopes; the only writes are calendar events and to-dos on your own account, made at your request or clearly labeled and dismissible.
- Your data is handled as described in the Privacy & Data Practices page, which is part of these terms.
- You may leave at any time: revoke access in your Google Account settings and request deletion of everything stored.
4. Acceptable use
- Don't attempt to access another person's data or probe, disrupt, or overload the service.
- Don't use Med Caddy to violate Brown policies — including the Academic Code. Asking it to complete graded work for you is on you, not us.
- Don't feed it credentials, or anyone else's private information beyond what arrives naturally in your own mailbox.
5. Availability & changes
- Med Caddy is a pilot. It is provided "as is," without warranties, and may be modified, interrupted, or discontinued. If the pilot ends, stored data is deleted per the privacy page.
- These terms may be updated; material changes will be announced in the app. Continued use means acceptance.
6. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Med Caddy and its developer are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from use of the service, including consequences of acting on an answer without verifying the cited source. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
